A Place to Start November, 2019, Caffeinated

Hi everyone, jumping the gun a bit, but couldn't wait to let you know I have joined the Design Team at A Place to Start.  If you haven't caught up with this challenge, check it out HERE.

Loads of tutorials, techniques and general crafting information on the blog.   I will be a regular from next year, but here is a page for my quote Journal, which is filling up fast.

The paper is one I handmade earlier this year with a coffee wash.  Stamps, inks, water pastels have all been used.  The image is called Friends Forever and came from  Robyn's Fetish Store (sadly now closed,)

This month's challenge is all about holidays.
Three great sponsors

COLOR OF LOVE

SHEEPSKI DESIGNS

DRAWN BY KRISTA

I chose an image from Drawn By Krista, "Donkey and Star" to create a Christmas card.

Coloured with copic pens, the image has been cut and the edges distressed.  The star was printed a second time, fussy cut and layered onto the base star.

Layered onto to dark brown cardstock, which has had Enchanted Gold Gilding Polish rubbed around the edges.  The pearls were white and I have coated them with Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paint. Stamped sentiment completes the front of the card, which has been adhered to a brown cardstock card base.

Inside is a stamped Christmas Greeting and a poem I found on the net about the little donkey at Christmas.

The Tea Lady
Monday to Friday she travelled twice daily
Through the offices pushing her trolley
Smiles and chatting gaily
The Tea Lady, Dolly.
With a Trolley fully laden
Came the sweet Tea Maiden
Serving us workers with treats and good cheer
Oh! she was welcomed, this Tea Lady Dear.

Bit of Halloween Fun

For the past several years I have kept a yearly Junk Journal, where bits and pieces I come across through the year, film tickets, invitations, cards, newspaper clippings etc get glued into, could also be just something on my desk that is left over, in it goes.  Probably more of a Smash /Gluebook.  Some Mixed media and art finds its way into the pages as well.

This year I over thought the process and used a small children's book,  it has worked but I think I need to rethink the process before I use an old book again, looks like a lot of washi tape about to be used or my go to, the paper bandage you can get from the chemist, either on plain white or decorate with paints, copics etc.  Anyway, book is becoming fragile.

This page has been created with a piece of left over diecut (trellis), I used it as a stencil over and over for other projects as well, finished off on these pages and then glued it onto a small strip of a page that I have left in the book.  When you open the page, the two top bats fly up.

The bats and Teddy came from a store called Robyn;s Fetish Store, now wadly closed.  The images have been coloured with copic pens, the background is Acrylic Chalk Paints and yes a little strip of tape to make sure the pages don't go missing.
