Southern Girls - Christmas

Christmas challenge at Southern Girls this fortnight, the sponsors are:

and

I received "Christmas Sweet Fox" from Oddball Art Co.  The fox image includes 3 Christmas baubles.  I printed, coloured and fussy cut the fox, layering him on to some patterned paper.  For the baubles I made them bigger, printed and coloured with copic pens and metallic ink.  In the end, I only used one of the baubles, added some ribbon and a sentiment to complete the card.

Bit of Halloween Fun

For the past several years I have kept a yearly Junk Journal, where bits and pieces I come across through the year, film tickets, invitations, cards, newspaper clippings etc get glued into, could also be just something on my desk that is left over, in it goes.  Probably more of a Smash /Gluebook.  Some Mixed media and art finds its way into the pages as well.

This year I over thought the process and used a small children's book,  it has worked but I think I need to rethink the process before I use an old book again, looks like a lot of washi tape about to be used or my go to, the paper bandage you can get from the chemist, either on plain white or decorate with paints, copics etc.  Anyway, book is becoming fragile.

This page has been created with a piece of left over diecut (trellis), I used it as a stencil over and over for other projects as well, finished off on these pages and then glued it onto a small strip of a page that I have left in the book.  When you open the page, the two top bats fly up.

The bats and Teddy came from a store called Robyn;s Fetish Store, now wadly closed.  The images have been coloured with copic pens, the background is Acrylic Chalk Paints and yes a little strip of tape to make sure the pages don't go missing.

Thankful

Using black cardstock as the card base and add a pale pink lace die, black ribbon and flower to create a thankful card that I need to send to a wonderful doctor that has been looking after me for the past 10 years.

Last visit was bitter sweet, Yeah! I don't need any more visits, sad because I will miss this gorgeous gentle man in my life.  Although, I do have the knowledge that he will still keep an eye on my yearly tests.  God Bless to a great man.

(Note to me: do not use crystal glitter on black, it shows up green. )

Spotlighting

I love the spotlight technique, but rarely incorporate it into a card.   This card has stamped images and sentiments from Stampin Up.  I have printed the main image a second time, coloured only the flowers and then punched them out with a circle punch, adhering them with 3d dimensions.

Simple and quick technique if you are in a hurry.  Also completed the inside with blue ink and more stamps for Stampin Up.

A bit of Halloween

Made a couple of pages for my quote journal today.

The first features an image from Ike's World, called Meow-ollen.  If you would like this image, it is a freebie and you will find it HERE

I have separated the pumpkin from the cat, mainly so it would fit on the page.  Coloured with copic pens and fussy cut, the pumpkin also has some gold metallic polish added.  Glitter and polish added to the page as well.

The cat's tail is not glued down, so moves about when you turn the page.

Angie's Digital Stamps 6 Oct, 2019

This month's challenge is AG with the twist being "to use Halloween colours."

I chose Angie's Wine bottle and glass image, check it and other images in her store HERE.

I have used a white cardstock base and leaving the colours together used a  Kaleidecolour Ink Pad (Autumn Leaves) lightly stampin up and down.

The bottle and glass have been coloured with copic pens and I have inked a deckle cut diecut and typed sentiment to complete the card.

Simply Create Too, #153 - Oct 2019

This month's theme at Simply Create is "Spooky or Scary". As always I struggle with October and the many Halloween related challenges.  Something we don't celebrate and I usually end up with cute anyway.  But this year I thought I would try something different.........

I love making little journals, slightly bigger than an ATC card.  This one is a "Witches Journal" lots of mixed media, from pastes, inks etc to dried flowers.   A journal for her spells on the pages as she writes and collects information.

We see lots of Pink around in October, "Breast Cancer Awareness" month, hoping all those out there fighting the disease well, bring on your toughest I can attitude. I know how hard it is to fight this disease, 10 years since I was diagnosed and after lots of treatment, none nice, so far so good.

Unicorn Challenge Blog #48

This month the theme at the Unicorn Challenge blog is Pretty in Pink.  I've used Ike's World "Gypsy".

Black cardstock that has been embossed with trees, then covered with Gold Metallic Gilding polish.  Then I distressed the edges on both the black and pink cardstock and mounted onto another piece of black cardstock.

The Gypsy's skin and hair have been coloured with copic pens.  Her dress, scarf and arm bands are paper pieced.  Her blouse, has added white gel and liquid pearls added to the edgings.

Her skirt, the pink part has white gel spots, the lower skirt has had highlights added with copic pens.  Glitter and Liquid pearls have also been added to the Gyspy.  Silver edgings down the side.

Pearly Sparkles Challenge, Oct 2019

This month's theme at the Pearly Sparkles Challenge is "Spooky and/or Cute"

I've made a little, the witch image is called "Wicked Witch of the West" it is from the Robyn's Fetish store, which has now closed.

The pumpkin I received in a swap, the witches have been coloured with copic pens and the had glitter and white gel pen added to their clothes.  Something you don't see everyday, my handwriting and a bit of doodling for the web and spider.

CHNC Patterned Paper Challenge October 2019

Another challenge this month and I have made a card for my daily to do journal.  October is a huge month in our family. Not only is it the month of my husband and son's birthday, but both of our children married October birthday people and we have a grandson born in October as well.  So celebrations and cakes abound.

The image is one that I have had for many many years, coloured with pencils and fussy cut.

So at the start of the month it is a good time to:
