Use a Doily

My last card for 2012 was inspried by Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog where they are asking us to use a doily this week.  Now I have a love of collage, crinoline and steampunk, surely a doily will fit in there!.  Yes it does, the image I have used is called img010 and I have had it well over 12 months, luckily now most images have the designer in the name of the image, but alas back then a large number came through with no identification for future references.  If anyone knows who drew this lady, please let me know. I have used acrylic paints, metallic paint pens, Prisma Colour Pens, Touch Pens and Copic Pens.  Stickers, embroidery thread to lace her corset and of course Doilies.  Hope you like my Crinoline Steampunk Lady, she was lots of fun to make.

Happy New Year to all.

Winter/Snowflakes at Broken Box Stock Challenge

I am in the middle of summer and loving every moment as I am not a lover of Winter, but this challenge at Broken Box Stock caught my eye and together with a cute image called "Cafe" which is a freebie at Broken Box Stock thought I would try a few different techniques.  The image has been printed on a sheet of Draw & Wash Wet Media paper from Art Spectrum, I started out using pencils and blending with Zest-It, I didn't want to colour the whole image, just certain elements, I then started using Touch Pens to do some highlighting and found they worked beautifully on this paper, will definitely be using it with the alcohol based pens again.  Lots of glittery snow on the building and snowman, snowflakes are from Make It Crafty. Mounted image on some green and white paper.

Skulls and Skeletons

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge theme this week is Skulls and Skeletons, found this really fun after all the red, green and glitter of Christmas, and I think we all stay in a party-like atmosphere until New Year anyway, so my little skeletons have decided to party on.  Skeleton, only used one, changed direction and used only the skull for the third is one I have had for sometime.  The Skeleton Alpha comes from Altered Emporium, who designs Digital Kits.  Cut a couple of pieces of cardstock for their hats and added bling and ribbon.  The little mask added to the skull is from a packet of masks I picked up in a $2.00 shop.

Lucky Dip

It's Lucky Dip time at "Try it On Tuesday", we got a list of ingedients to choose from,
Die cuts
Ribbon
Sentiment
Pearls
Distressing
Stamped Image
and we needed to pick 4 to include in our project.
I chose Ribbon, Sentiment, Pearls and Stamped Image, very rare for me to use a stamp, but I bought a magazine the other day (Crafters Inspiration) and the two stamps I have used were part of a free gift.

I coloured the boot with Copic and Touch pens, added a bow and wrapped ribbon around the boot.  I have added pearls down trhe boot.  Cut the edge of a paper doily and although you can't see it in the picture (best picture I could get today, very dull outside) the top of the boot and the snowflake have lots of white glitter on them.  I also used a stamp for the sentiment which I stamped directly onto the paper doily, mounted onto coloured cardstock and put onto a gift bag.

I Love Santa

The theme this week at Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge is "I Love Santa".  This song came to my mind straight away when I saw what the challenge was, could be because Mum and Dad have just celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.  I combined two different digital stamps for this ATC, the girl is from Sassy Studio Designs I think, I have had it for over 12 months, the Santa is called Santa Dearie and how cute is he, you can find Santa Dearie and lots and  lots of gorgeous freebies at Dearie Dolls Digis, check out the site. Both images have been coloured with copic and touch pens. The mistletoe I die cut on my Ecraft, coloured and used glossy accents on the berries, and I don't know whether these should be shiny or not as I have never seen mistletoe except if it was made of plastic.  Must try and see real Mistletoe before next Christmas.

Winter Themed Tag No 2

Following on with the December theme at The Crafters Cafe Challenge Blog, Winter Themed Tags, this tag has been made with a beautiful Candle image from The Stamping Boutique. The image has been coloured with Touch and Copic pens, lots of fine glitter for the snow, some gems for stars and some die cut snowflakes.  I die cut a very large snowflake, once in white and once in a blue patterned paper, mounted them and added blue glitter.

Traditon Christmas Colours at Dilly Beans

Theme this week at Dilly Beans is Traditional Christmas Colours.  I've made a Christmas Tag, the images are from a file of images called Angels, there is no name attached to the files and I can't remember where I found them. I have removed the wings of the animals for the tag.  Coloured with Touch Pens.  I randomly printed the words and music notes onto red cardstock.

Fairy Houses

What could be more magical for an ATC than the theme Fairy Houses, and that is the theme this week at Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge.  One of the great things about this site is that they have a sneak peek page, lets you know what is coming up, as I was going to be very busy over the next few days, I was able to start early.

I  found this stamp called "Fairy Tree House" at Make It Crafty.  Once I had shrunk it down to fit the ATC, I was beginning to think I had bitten off more than I could chew, lots of detail that had become very, very  small.  I used just about every type of pen/marker and pencil I have to colour the image, including Copic Prismacolour, Touch, Gel Pens, inks etc. Created 3D on some elements of the house, did some paper scultpuring on others, added glitter and gems, because surely that's what fairies would have in their garden.  Added some very small ferns and leaves that I had die cut and some glossy accent to the pebbles.

Lets Get Inky

This fortnight Try it on Tuesday is about getting Inky.  I have made a tag, 4 to go and I am finished for Chrissy.  I have used two inks Galaxy Gold and a little Lightening Black for shadows.  I have used an embossing folder, which I inked in gold and then put black cardstock through an embossing press.  Leaving trees black and background gold, then I stencilled a circle in the gold ink.  I cut out santa and his reindeer on a die cutter in gold glitter paper, use the Lightening Black to add some shadows,  inked a Merry Christmas sticker in the same gold.

Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards is the theme at Robins Fetish Challenge Blog, Inspiration for this challenge came from a couple of sources.  Make It Crafty have some great background digistamps, trees, shrubs etc all separate and you put them where you want, so I have used their outback scene for my card and added the Make it Craft digital stamp called Red Nose Roo.

And why a Roo instead of a Reindeer, because the words to this song "Six White Boomers" kept going round and round in my head.
Six white boomers, snow white boomers
Racing santa claus through the blazing sun
Six white boomers, snow white boomers
On his australian run

Pretty soon old santa began to feel the heat
Took his fur-lined boots off to cool his feet
Into one popped joey, feelin' quite okay
While those old man kangaroos kept pullin' on the sleigh

Wing It at Wicked Wednesday ATC

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge, this week the theme is Wing It, I stamped some green paper with a swirly pattern, which I mounted onto purple cardstock, added some material flowers and foil stamps.  Have to love foil stamps, so easy to use, I stuck them on some vellum and then coloured them with Touch pens.  Added a little note and some foil corners, again painted with Touch pens.

Winter Themed Tags

The theme for December at The Crafters Cafe Challenge Blog is Winter Themed tags, I've kept to Christmas tags even though I am hanging out for a long hot Christmas Day.  This tag has been made with a Christmas Tree image from Robert Jackson, thanks Robert, cute image.

1. Cut tag from Kraft Paper, and layered it with
2 Burlap? (heres a tip, not sure about the rest of the world, but in Australia we can purchase grocery shopping bags made out of a fine hessian/burlap for about a dollar - great for crafting and cheap),
3 Then a layer of Silver paper,
4 I die cut some snowflakes from white paper and decided to use the left over paper as another layer.
5 Mounted the tree which I had decorated with curled paper, gems and glitter.  Using Touch and Copic pens to colour.
6 Lastly I added the snowflakes and a red ribbon and I have my Christmas tag for Dad's present.

Frame It

This little ATC is probably an insight into how my mind works at times. The  Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge for this week is "Frame It".  I've used an image of a Beagle Boy (not sure how many people remember them, they were always trying to rob Scrooge McDuck), then I thought why not add a little bird for colour and now I have The Birdman Beagle from Alcatraz, pleading "I was framed", I have made the prisoner 3D, so he is leaning out of the black frame which has also been  made 3D.

Black, White and One other Colour

Found this challenge over at Robyns Fetish Challenge Blog, loved the idea of just using three colours.  In the end I kept it very simple and the only colour I added was cream, which I used to colour the sails.  The lovely ship is from Beyond the Fringe crafts called Tallship.  I printed the tall ship and the Happy Birthday straight onto a white card blank.  The front of the card is trimmed back to reveal a small black border on the inside of the card (you can't really see it in the picture) and matches the black strip on the other side of the ship.  Once printed I put the card into an embossing machine, but only a little bit to get some texture for choppy water, then distressed the embossing with black chalk.  I then coloured the sails with Derwent pencils.  My card is Black, White and Cream.
