Once Upon a Time.........

This card was so much fun to create.  The image is from Lacy Sunshine, called "Rory Just a Lil Pixie" and is this fortnight's Loyalty Program Digi.

The image has been coloured with copic pens and mounted onto a step card, which I have turned into a fairy princess castle.

The pink walls have been embossed with a brick pattern, gold ink has been used to highlight the mortar (all good fairy princess castles have to have gold) and a diecut for the windows.

The turret rooves and balcony are in a mint cardstock.  The small ones are highlighted with gold, the main roof has a punched scalloped pattern for the slate (also highlighted in gold).

Punched vines and flowers with liquid pearl centers, two diecut flowers and owl complete the card.

Robyn's Fetish Challenge # 287, Anything for Halloween , 25 October, 2015

Our sponsor for this week is
  LIMITED RUNS DIGI STAMPS
PRIZE: the winner’s choice of 3 digital stamps from the LIMITED RUNS STORE.

I chose "Speedy Witch" from Limited Runs Digi Stamps for my Halloween project.

Although Halloween is slowly becoming more popular, it is not a big event in Australia. For this weeks inspiration I thought I would go all out and make a Halloween decoration.  I sort of know the colours are black, purple, orange and green, that people use witches, owls, black cats and pumpkins etc.  So I set about turning a Maple Syrup (love maple syrup) bottle into a candle holder.

As I did not have any purple paint, I mixed some red and blue craft paint together, then added some silver glitter paint.  Poured the mixed paint into the empty bottle, put on the lid and shook it all around.  I let it dry for a while and then went back and turned it upside down to get the paint thicker.  Worked a treat, I didn't realise how easy it was to colour a bottle.

Next I needed an orange candle, none in the house, but I did have a white candle, again I went back to the basics and mixed red and yellow together until I got the orange I wanted.  I applied the paint to the candle, stuck the end in the bottle and left to dry.

I coloured Speedy Witch with Copic pens, fussy cut her, added glitter to her hair and boots and a black cat to her broom.   Used a round punch to make a moon from silver white card.  Made a paper owl, printed some bats from Robyn's Digital Stamps and More, called A Bit Batty. Attached them to the candle with split pins.  Also attached a digitally carved pumpkin, that I made some time ago.  Draped netting and cord around the bottle.

This photo is dark, only way I could get to show my pumpkin.

Altered Box

I do a lot of my colouring watching (or should I say listening) to the TV at night.  That way hubby gets to see me and I am away from the computer.

All this means a messy coffee table, but I try to keep things sort of organised and keep bits and pieces in this wooden box.  Time for an updat

Inside the box is Graphic 45 paper.  I covered the outside in black cardstock, created black backgrounds for the images, typed words on the road sign, printed and cut into  strips to fit the box.  The large scarecrow and sign have been fussy cut, glued to black cardstock and re fussy cut give them some strength.

Both sides have pumpkins, the little fences, mushrooms and grass are all from Flourish with A Bling.

Lacy Sunshine

We don't celebrate Halloween, so I have used the colours for this birthday card, using a precoloured set from Deedee's Digis called "Wild About You".

Using a step card, I printed all the animals on a linen paper, fussy cut and then layered onto black cardstock and again fussy cut.  (the lion was holding a soccer ball, but this little fellow is into Australian rules, so I changed soccer to Aussie Rules football.)

Using mauve and orange papers on a black card, I then arranged the animals on top of each other with 3d hexagons from Stampin-up.

Used stickers for his name on the front, on the inside I typed a sentiment and then added a sentiment from the set to complete this birthday card.

Robyn's Fetish Challenge # 284 Add Leaves, Real or Faux, 4 October 2015

Welcome to another great family friendly challenge at Robyn's Fetish Challenges

Our Sponsor this week is
 Robyn’s Fetish
PRIZE: 3 images of the winner’s choice from the
ROBYN’S FETISH DIGITAL STAMPS AND MORE STORE.

The theme this week is to use leaves, real or faux.  The image I have used is called "Rock abye Baby" from Robyn's Store.

I have had this image for quite a long time, and although I have used it before, the the theme this week, jogged my memory about this precious little image and here is what I came up with using faux leaves.

I printed the image twice and coloured it with copic pens, then I used a circle die to cut one coloured image, the other I fussy cut the cradle and used 3d squares to layer the image.  I also cut a larger circle from green cardstock. The cradle image was attached over the green circle and then they were attached to the white card.

To make the leaves, I used a small circle punch and punched out lots of circles using two colours of green cardstock and also you will see some leaves have a pattern on them. They have been cut from a digital paper that can also be found at Robyn's Store.  Once I had the circles cut, I put them back into the punch, some a quarter of the way in others half way in and punched again.  Hand folded the leaves and then inked them.

I layered the leaves over the circles to create the tree foliage.  Added so ribbon and a "Hello Baby" Sentiment.

Here is how it looks with a name attached.

Brown Sugar #166 - Shabby Chic

Our Sponsor this week is
Lacy Sunshine

Shabby Chic is so out of my comfort zone, but here goes!  I have used " Heidi Dazzlebud Briar Whimsie", coloured her with copic pens and diecut.

Using papers from Stampin Up I layered both  the front and the inside of the card.  Added punch leaves and flowers, plus fabric flowers, some lace, a wooden heart and a butterfly with gems. A little fence from Flourish with a Bling (they are having a sale at the moment, check it out!) completes my a card.

Cass Creating Now Tutorial - Silk Screen Card. 2 October, 2015

I am going to be doing tutorials for Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog on the first Friday of each month.
Leave me a comment if there is anything in partuicular for which you would like instructions.  If I know how, I will create a tutorial.

Silk Screen Card
Supplies
Card stock  1 piece 8 inches x 12 inches
Card stock in contrasting colour 8 pieces 2½inches x 6½inches
Label Punch
Edge Punch
Glue / double sided tape etc. (use what you are familiar with)
Images - I have used:
Scarey Pumpkin;  Bearly a Pumpkin  Pumpkin Border;
Pumpkin Border 2;  Pumpkin Magic
all can be found at Robyn's Digital Stamps and More

Taking the 8 inch x 12 inch piece of card stock, use your edge punch down one long side

Next, using the long straight edged side against the top of your scorer, score at the 3, 6 and 9 inch measurements.

Make Valley, Mountain, Valley folds (see photo - this is how you card should look once folded)

Using a boner or scissors, handle flatten the fold lines.

Use a Label punch (mine is from Stampin' Up)  and I like it for these cards as the outside is exactly the same measurement as each section of the card.  You need to line up your punch vertically even to the sides of the section you are cutting AND you need to insert the card stock, halfway into the punch.
Punch each of the 4 sections to create the legs.

Here is your basic silk screen card completed.  We have a patterned top and 5 legs.

Please note: I have changed to an orange card for the remainder of the tutorial.
Legs are the same but this one shows a different top edging.

Once you have the basic shape created, you can start to decorate.
Using the 8 pieces 2½inches x 6½inches adhere to each of the panels, both sides.

This is how it should look on both sides when standing

Now for some images.  This photo shows both sides of the card.

Tip Time
You will notice the pumpkins do have white sections that I have not cut off.  I do a lot of fussy cutting, but sometimes, as with the stems and leaves, if fussy cut there is a good chance the parts will fall off.
So once I have adhered the images, I use a fine pen, could be a Sharpies/Staedtler, whatever I happen to have.  I colour those white parts and this is the result.

Another Tip
If you are trying to line up something try doing it upside down. I learnt this trick many many years ago.  If you want to copy a drawing, a font etc, do it upside down.  I do not know the scientific reason, but it has something to do with the brain then concentrating on the placement/ lines etc., not the actual image/embellishment.

And here is my Halloween Silk Screen Card completed.

Happy Halloween!

Give this design a try.   It is really simple!
