A study in Black and White

The phot is of my Mum and Dad in the late 1940s, on their way to the races. We do joke about Mum's glasses.  Both were lovers of icecream.

Reflection

The reflection of the Murry River is both beautiful and calming.

This mighty river, largest in Australia covering 2508kms.  It makes up most of the border between New South Wales and Victoria, with the  border being the top of the bank on the Victorian side. None of the river is actually in Victoria

Southern Girls November Christmas Challenge

Christmas challenge this fortnight, the sponsors are:

and

For this challenge I am using an image called "Hope" from The Paper Shelter.  One of my favourites that I have used before., this time round I used the coloured version of the image and the background paper.

I have digitally created the face of the card, using the background paper and the coloured image.  I have added a shadow behind the girl (coloured image) and worked in a shadow behind the star she is holding.  I have also typed on a Christmas message.

Once printed and cut out, I added some diecut lace, pearls and coloured cardstock to finish the card.

Stop and smell the roses

Art journal page today.  This page is one of two that I decided as I was cleaning my craft room, which seems to be a continuous process.  Takes forever, as I keep coming across bits an dpieces that say "Keep me", use me".  As I ponder what to do and then try and sort out what to put back in a box (probably for another year or two), I had an idea.

I opened up one of my Art Journals to a page which already had a little paint smeared onto it.  Any time I use paint , ink, stencil paste etc, I always use it randomly on a page.  I use baking paper for a palette, when finished I spread it over the paper, fold paper whatever, and then use that paper as well.

So, getting back to cleaning my room, every time I picked up something small, I placed it on the open journal and glued it into position, which also meant I was doing somethings back to front, but the whole process seemed to work in the end.  I just kept adding until I was OK with the page, then did some journalling.

The image that I started this page with is "Sunflower Dreams" from Digi Doodles.  I had decided to colour her red and green for a Christmas project I had in mind, but instead popped her onto the page together with a host of different techniques, and products.  Stencilling, painting, paper napkin, diecuts, copics, pencils, black marker and my faithful white gel pen.
