Happy New Year

Who remembers the Millennium bug warnings. My Oh My! and now we are entering 2020, the disastrous warnings are mere memories.  My wish for 2020 is to enjoy the year, may you have plenty of me time to do what you like, be it working, crafting or just lazying about!  Keep safe, healthy and a little wise.

Apart from specific art journals  a literature journal etc, I have 2 yearly journals, One is my bullet diary (2019 has now become a quote journal), the other is a junk journal.

This is the first page in my 2020 Junk journal, my yearly journals are a way of keeping memories alive, reminders of things I have done throughout a given year, places I've been, things I've seen they incorporate lots of different aspects and are probably more of an Art, Smash, Junk journal (one day I will come up with a better name)

The quote is from Edith Lovejoy Pierce, and I think perfect for a new journal.

The image is from Twistoon, formerly Bloobel and is called "Champagne Bottle".  This time round I used coloured pencils, paint, glitter and markers to complete the page.  Cork is popped and she is off to be the life of the party.

Whiling away the time

Busy busy morning baking, still waiting for the pudding to be finished, takes about 9 hours to boil, so if my reckoning is correct, 3 more hours to go.

Whilst I was waiting I thought I could a digital Christmas Layout, my younger sister and I had our photos taken with a statue of Santa.  Not sure why it was a statute as I have an earlier one on myself with a real life Santa.

I've used pieces from various Raspberry Road Christmas Kits.

The Crafter's Cafe #233, 15 Dec

The theme for the last 2019 challenge is "Holidays or Something beginning with C", great sponsor QKR with a prize of 3 images.

I decided to go with Christmas and Chimney and chose "Stockings Hung" and created a page in my Literature Art Journal.  The image has been printed 3 times and coloured with copic paints., first layer the back of the fireplace is showing, 2nd layer is the surround brick work and mantle.  Third layer comprises of Santa's boots, which are highly glossy thanks to glossy accents . The boots and legs are not stuck down, they move up and down as Santa wriggles through the chimney.  The stockings are layered on top and have liquid pearl nails.

The trees on the sides are rubber stamped, decorated with more liquid pearls and Kindy Glitz.

The words come from the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas"

MIxed Media Cover

Time to get the 2020 Journal ready, I started doing a yearly Junk/Smash/Art journals in 2013 so this will be my seventh.

I started the journals as a reminder of what had happened in that year, a collection of memories that I would always be able to recall.  In the 3 previous years I had been on medication that messed up my memory and ability to recall quite severely, slowly as my memories began returning , I decided I never wanted to be in that position again, and so started the journals.

The cover has had some mixed media magic, papers, napkins, acrylic paints, pens of various descriptions and an image from Twistoon called "Banner Bonnie" coloured with copic pens and fussy cut, the typed message on her banner is about all I could find to rhyme with twenty.
