The Crafter's Cafe Challenge-Anything Christmas 15/12/17

The sponsors at The Crafter's Cafe this fortnight are:

Running late with this posting today.  I got to play with "Elves at Work" from Scribbles Designs.  I started out making a Christmas Tree decoration,  coloured the image with copic pens, fussy cut and then got stuck into the glitter.   Big problems when it is 36 degrees Celsius I ended up with glitter running everywhere.

Take 2, I made an ATC Gift card, this time I digitally coloured the image, fussy cut and layered onto green cardstock, added some glitter (not so hot this morning) string and tinsel around the edges.

CAS - Thankyou

Here is my second card as a GD at The Outlawz Sunday CAS challenge. I've used a card base that has a soft sheen to it, the colour hard to define but probably a very pale mint.

I knew what I wanted to do, but had to try a few different techniques.   First I embossed the image onto the card.  Tried inking the image, didn't quite work out, so I tried some ShainHanart Touch pens over the embossed image.  Because the card stock is thick and has a sheen coating, meant the pens did not penetrate to the back.  Added a little thankyou sentiment and coloured lace to match the flowers.

This weeks challenge is to make a thankyou card and send it to some.

Check out all the challenges at The Outlawz Challenge site.

Digitally Made Challenge # 7 Thanksgiving/Grateful - 6 November, 2017

Sadly, this is our last monthly challenge at Digitally Made, I have loved checking out the entries each month and gaining inspiration from the entries.

I used to do a lot of designing for Retro Designs and the kit I have used for today's layout is one of my favourites.  Although Helen does not create new kits at the moment, her store is still open, check it out here.
This kit is called Nostalgic Scrapbook.  So many beautiful elements and papers, many more than I have used.

I grew up in an idyllic childhood.  Amazing parents, true equals, no need for feminism in our household and even now I find the idea of feminism as foreign.  Growing up we only ever saw love, kindness and a beautiful way of life.  We were so lucky they lived long lives and not only their children and grandchildren got to know them, but also their older great grandchildren.

Always thankful for my parents.

Brown Sugar #272 - Breast Cancer Awareness

Hi, I am very happy to announce I have returned to the Brown Sugar Challenge Design Team, after being away for 18 month.

I've created a page in my Breast Cancer Journey Junk Journal. I started the Journal when some family and friends started sending me cards specifically designed for the Breast Cancer Charities and I didn't want to throw them out.

For a number of years now, I make an entry and post it on my blog as a reminder for people to have a mammogram, as a reminder to me, of how far I have come and a time to reflect on the amazing medical staff that looked after me.  And hopefully to help anyone going through the treatment, that there are lots of us who are surviving, who wish you all the very best with your treament.

Using Di's Digis image called "Kitty in a Teacup, I added extra cups so I had enough for each year.  Very happy I just got the all clear for 8 years.

Kitty has been coloured with copic pens  and fussy cut.  The words have been typed using "JLR Awareness Ribbons" font.  A little bit of writing and a little bit of doodling completes the page for this year.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Music - 1/11/17

It's time to bring out the song journal.  Great sponsors for the challenge this week

Prize is the 3 images the Team have used.
(Elvis;  The Sound of Music'  Love Music)

Prize: 2 Digis
I chose "Elvis" from Mari's Digital Stamps for my journal page.  "The King", I have always been a huge fan, first buying his records whilst in high school. (which probably gives my age away)

Coloured with Copic penjs and fussy cut, attached with a spring to the page.  Some inking and 2 music charms complete the page.

So many songs to choose from, I decided on "See See Rider"

And where would Elvis be without those shaking hips.

Hang On

Imagine That's Airplanes feature on this card.  I have inked a cloud emboosing folder and embossed the top of the card, inking the rest of the card.

Coloured with copic pens and fussy cut, layered with a spring mechanism.

And the Plane moves.
OK this is the first time I have tried a video on the blog, still learning, but you will see the effect.  On a learning curve at the moment.

Sadly, the card is no longer, luckily I photographed it before our tiny dog found it (we had the doors open and the wind must have blown it off the table) and she had some late supper or maybe an early breakfast.

Christmas Village

The Christmas card features diecuts from Stampin Up and Beccy's Place "Christmas Cottages"

I haven't added a sentiment as I thought it would be a great card to send with a letter written on it to someone for Christmas.  Lots of space to write!

I have used the edge diecuts on a strip of cardstock and folded twice.  Diecut the edgings again, coloured the elements with copic pens, cut them off the strip and glued them to the original diecuts.  Then added the Christmas Cottages from Beccy's place, which were also coloured with copic pens, some liquid pearls were used for the snow.

Pop Up Card

This month's image from the Monthly Progressive Challenge at Outlawz is "General Store" by Createful Hearts.

After trying a precut pop up base and not liking the result, I ended up creating and cutting a card base to create the pop up effect.

I have kept the front fairly plain, using diecuts only.  Then when opened the card has a small scene of the store and surround trees.

The image has been coloured with copic pens and fussy cut and adhered to the card.
Pale green cardstock has been added to the card inside and out.  The inside piece behind the store was a scrap which had some inking on it, hoping it looks like a setting sun skyline  (not sure it is visible in the photo)
