Wedding Card

For this wedding card I have used an image from Polkadoodles CD called Cherry Blossom Lane.  Coloured with Copic and touch Pens, added some pearls and flowers to complete the image.  I chose red as I know someone getting married in about 18 months who wants her bridesmaids in red, don't know whether I will give the happy couple this card or not, long time yet to make many more cards lol.

Recycling

Do you recycle? I try to, but I have a 14 year old Grandson that tells me I am not a hoarder, I am a collector of many things lol.   I do have a tendency to hold on to small things, labels, buttons, little boxes etc, which brings me to my Mum's 87th birthday tomorrow.  We bought her a beautiful elephant brooch (she loves elephants) but it came in a very pretty little bag and I thought no I want it in a box so started going through the drawers and found a ring box which the brooch fitted into perfectly.  Then I turn on my computer and find the this fortnights challenge at Try it on Tuesday is called 'Recycle it'.  Perfect timing.

First thing I did, was use an elephant digi, which I changed from holding a peanut to holding a card with Mum on it, coloured it with bright colours and added lots of bling, then placed the image inside the lid as a small gift card.

On the outside of the box I used colours to match the elephant brooch, gold  paper, pearls, emerald bling,  silver trim around the edges, green bow, white and gold roses.  So happy with the result, I'm going to dig a bit deeper and find some more of these little boxes, they make great trinket boxes when decorated. Lots of photos, because I tried to get it from each angle.

First is a picture of the little box, white and gold.

Lets try a little embossing

What I like about using an embossing machine, is the different looks you can get from one design using different tehniques.  I have used a small embosser and a leaf pattern embossing folder to make this card.  I wanted a worn look and used ink on the folder and ran textured card through the machine to get the green background.  I also ran through a number of both light and dark coloured cardstock, which I then coloured with either a metalic pencils (on the darker cardstock) and ink distressed the lighter cardstock.  A great benefit to this card is that I know have some great leaves for other projects.  I then stamped a sentiment on dark green cardstock with white ink.

Digital Art

When the house is quiet, the hubby is in bed or out and there is just the whir of the harddrive and today, the wind blowing, that is when I love to sit at the computer and create.  This image is one I got from Dover Publications, as is the Leprechaun.  Thanks to the magic of PSE and about 3 hours of heavenly peace and quiet, the phone didn't even ring, this is what I have come up with for a couple of challenges.

I started with a black and white print of the swing scene, except for the face and hands, all other sections have been layered with different papers from the many kits of  Retro Designs, the little butterfly and bird are also from Retro Designs, check her kits out, stunning.  Bevelled a lot of the pieces to give a quilted effect, added an Irish Blessing.

March Going Green for St Patrick Part 2

The Crafters Cafe is going green for St Patrick during March, I was lucky enough to get to choose a couple of images from Rick St Dennis to play with this month, for which I thank Rick immensely.  This scene, Country Lane Scene.  reminded me of Ireland, not that I have ever visited the Emerald Isle, but from what I have seen in pictures.  Maybe I should have added a little leprechan looking over the fence!. I did add some little shamrocks growing at the bottom of the fence though.   I have coloured the scene with water colours, added a pressed clover and an Irish blessing.

Spring Fever

The Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge this week is "Spring Fever"  This image is from Beckys Place and is called "Nell on a Bicycle", she is cute!  Coloured with Copic and Touch Pens, added some flowers and bling, then a little description of Spring Fever.

Green

A green card for march, this card has lots of different green tones and patterns, the image is from Robyns Fetish Digital Stamps and More and is called Roll the Dice, the stamp as a whole includes both the horse and the mice rolling dice, I split them up for this card.  Coloured the image with Copic and Touch Pens, added some green buttons and flowers.

Simon Says - Choose a Sketch

I picked sketch no 2 at Simon Says this week, lots of different layers caught my eye, I have used multiple papers from the Prima Botanical collection, with each layer being matted on kraft paper, card is also made from kraft paper.  I added an image of a car for the top layer.  All edges distressed with Distress ink.  I left the oblong layer longer than in the sketch, thought it looked good with a sentiment on it.

Fun with ATCs has gone Gothic

Fun with ATCs this fortnight are look for something Gothic.  The background photo is one I took last year and just seemed right for this ATC.

Show us your Fangs

The Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge this week is called "Show us your fangs".  I am pretty sure they were probably not looking for my type of fangs, but I couldn't resist this image for the challenge, and they are fangs, just blunt ones!.  Coloured with copic and touch pens, mounted on green and cream paper, added a couple of flowers and the sentiment.

Eastertime

The image on my Easter card is from Sandi's Samples and is called Hat Lady, I have used her in a number of different projects, but I think this latest project is probably my favourite. The image is a profile of a lady wearing a wide brimmed hat with some flower and ribbon designs on it.  I printed out the full image and coloured the face, shoulders and inside of the brim with copics and touch pens.  I also cut out the hat in a cream cardstock, to the hat shape I've added flowers, leaves, ribbon, a bow and some glittery braid.  I have also added the braid to the back of the inside brim to continue the effect of her wearing the hat. . I mounted the hat by attaching the head part with tape and the brim part is only attached at each end with glue so that I got the shadow you would see with such a hat, (hope that all makes sense).  Mounted on some pale blue polka dot paper, added some pearls and a sentiment, which I have brushed Liquid pearls over.

This card is entrered into the following challenges:
Try it on Tuesdays - Hats and Easter Bonnets
City Crafter - Inspired by a Song - (I chose, Easter Parade)
Perfect Sentiment - Easter Bling
Paper Shelter - Easter

Wings for Altered Art Challenge

I have two passions with crafting, collage and minature works, hence why I do so many ATCs.  These pictures show a couple of matchboxes that I have altered for a swap I am doing this month.  I have completed 7 in all, 6 small and one larger matchbox, each one different and using different mediums.  With these two I have used Crafty Emblies, which I love because I can get very small pieces.

The theme this month at Crafty Emblies is Wings

 Small Matchbox 1.5 inches x 2 inches
All wooden and chipboard elements mounted on brown cardstock.

Large Matchbox 2.5 inches x4.25 inches
Background paper is a blue sky with clouds pattern, the lace on the pram is from Crafty Emblies, I have added a butterfly and flower from my stash and mounted some lace on the bottom and sides of the box.

Thank you Card

This thank you card has been made with an image from Shelley's Images called Spring Lamb.  Coloured with copics and mounted on green and orange cardstock, with some green ribbon.  I am using lots of cool colours this month, could be because we are in the middle of a heat wave and I am steering away from using the bolder colours, except for backgrounds. Come winter I suppose it will be all reds and yellows. lol.

Birthday Card for my Daughter

This card, which is larger than I usually make, is for my daughter who was born the day after St Patricks day, 36 years ago.  We always tell her if she had come a bit quicker we might have had to call her Patricia, in honour of St Patricks Day.  This year I know she needs a little cheering so I made her this card with Cabaret Lolly from the Paper Shelter, with some alterations, Lolly is usually winking but I now have her looking straight out from the card, added a shamrock bow to her cane and changed her hat from a bowler to a top hat, making her more of a little green leprechaun for the card, coloured with copic and touch pens.  I printed sheet music and several little blessings onto pink and green vellum, die cut green shamrocks to place on her hat and on the background.  Inside I wrote a poem:

Due on the Seventeenth
Born on the Eighteenth
What a difference a day makes
A little girl born
In the morn
Her name - Kellie
Which rhymes with belly, smelly and jelly
But if she had not tarried
She would share her day with St Patrick
And then could have been known as Patricia  (and her last name which rhymes with patrick)

Going Green for March

It's March, and in the northern hemisphere it is Spring, lots of flowers and green grass, where I live it is Autumn and we are dreaming of the green grass to come.  Also a time for the Irish, St Pats and all things green.  This cute image is from Digistamps4joy and is called '3 little maids', which gave me the idea for the sentiment, with apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan for changing some words.  Coloured with copic and touch pens, mounted on green cardstock, white card distressed with different green shades.  A couple of green flowers mounted together and the cute little cat purring for attention is from Crafty Emblies

Is it Spring?

Lots of talk about Easter, St Pats Day and Spring at the moment, only where I live it is Autumn, and we are having a gloriously hot Autumn Yeah!!!.  But back to the rest of the world, over at Polkadoodles their theme for this week is Spring Flowers and over at A Blog Named A Hero their fortnightly challenge was to create an element out of a stamp. I am still not sure if this is working, but it is definitely spring flowers and elements from stamps.  I got a bunch of flower stamps and coloured them with Copic and Touch Pens, cut them out and then started layering them onto white cardstock, some leaves also coloured and some that are fabric, then I punched out a whole lot of little blue flowers, the large pink flower has been cut out twice and layered, tied up with a green bow and added the sentiment.

Get Together Final Post

The 'Get Together Challenge is running until 31st March over at the Paper Craft Planet, Shelleys Images and Digistamps4Joy have joined forces to bring us the challenge.  The cute rabbit image is called 'Peter" from Shelleys Images and the pretty Egg Basket is from Digistamps4joy.  The challenge requires you to use both images in a project.  If you complete 3 projects you receive $3.00 vouchers from each designer.  For this project I created a scene with tree trunks, Peter and the Egg Basket were printed on Watercolour Paper and coloured with watercolour pastels.  Put into a journal I am doing about the celebrations of 2013. This page is part of a 4 page piece about Easter, I am starting with the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it,  then onto the different ways it is celebrated around the world and some history.  The scene is mounted on Easter Egg Silver Paper, not underneath the image though as this is a very precious commodity.  I do silver paper pictures and have a supply of used silver paper from some years ago.  Can't use much of todays as it carries brand names all over it.
