The Crafter's Cafe #252 - 15th October, Pink (Breast cancer Awareness Month)

The Crafter's Cafe challenge this fortnight is all about using some Pink and remembering to be aware of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Having been there and survived, I wish all the love, hope and power to those going through this journey today.  Go girls!

The sponsor is Sheepski, I chose an image called Alana to make a contrasting ribbon doll for one I did some time ago using another Sheepski image, called My Fair Lady, where I used blue lace and ribbons.

The process is fairly simple.  I printed the image twice, coloured  one copy with copic pens, the other I left uncoloured.

Once coloured it is a matter of working out where you want the fall of the skirt to start.  Cut off any of the image below that mark and start glueing the ribbons, lace, beads, whatever you want to use just above that cut.

I start glueing from the back, remembering that you are attaching the front layer first, then just keep building up layers.  Once you are happy with the fullness of the skirt, you can add a layer to the front of the image if you wish, this image doesn't have a defining waist line, so I then added ribbon around the image to create a band.

Once all that is done, and you have previously cut the uncoloured image to the same size, you can glue both images together, sandwiching the skirt between the two layers.

I also added some little pink flowers to complete her gown.

The Crafter's Cafe #251 - 1st October Anything Goes

Another 1st of the month, brings another Anything Goes challenge at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge.

This fortnight the sponsor is All Dressed Up. I chose to use a set called "Boo, I can see you" both images and the sentiment are included.

I am presuming there will be a lot of cancelled Trick or Treaters this year. We don't celebrate Halloween, this year I decided to do some pages in my bullet diary, which has become a more art/mixed media journal as the days and month went by without any entries.  It is the first time I have bought this particular brand and will buy another for ext year, who knows we may be able to go an do things out of the house.

This is an interactive page, I separated the sentiment and two images to create a folded page, using patterned paper, this particular pattern has paw prints, which went well with the kitten image.

Images have been coloured with copic pens and fussy cut.  Black kindyglitz has been added to the little girls ears and tail for texture.  Purple button is representing a door knob.  The sentiment I cut in a random fashion and then thought it looked like a ghost, so added two further buttons in the OO of the word Boo.  Open up the page and you see the kitten in the pumpkin.  I purposely left its tail and part of the pumpkin sticking out a bit from the page. A real autumn leaf ( found last Autumn) and lace trimming complete the page.
