Gift Box

Something different this time, a bit of mixed media on a box lid.  The box is made of heavy cardboard

I have covered the box in Christmas polka dot paper.   The snow has been made from Stampin Up Embossing paste, wow! worked a treat and dried fast.

I started with layering some stiff net  and the paste, working in the little wooden church and houses,, reindeer, sleigh and Christmas Tree.  The last two have been coloured with copic pens.

Two paper trees, pearl flourishes, flowers and leaves then added,  all finished off with some white pearl drops and crystal glitter.

This week's challenge is Anything Goes, Optional "Make your own background".  I was lucky enough a few months ago to win a prize from Beccy's Place and one of the sets I chose was "Ginger Bread Set" which comes in coloured as well as black and white.

I have created the background digitally using coloured images and sentiments from the set.  The House and Tree were printed black and white, and I coloured them with copic and little tipsy pens.

Christmas Time

Here's a quick Christmas card made with Kaisercraft paper and sentiment.

Christmas to me has always been about the warm weather and the red flowers.  I can remember my Grandmother always had a big vase of red Gladioli at Christmas.  The bottlebrush bushes are in full red bloom as are the geraniums.  Everything is green and lush as we haven't usually hit the full heat of summer, but it is coming.

Green

This month's challenge at The Path of Positivity is SHADES OF GREEN.  Although Blue is my all time favourite colour, green comes in a very close second.  I love green because it is the colour of the spring grass, when it so lush.  The leaves on the evergreen trees and the deciduous ones in Spring, a sign to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, even a favourite apple is green, the Granny Smith.

Green is relaxing, rejuvenating and well, it's great being green!

This digital page has been created with a kit from Create Wings called  "Where Dreams Begin"  The little girl in the photo loves dogs and this is the first dog for her family.  I think the photo says it all.

New Technique

Thanks to Judy Woodland at ModSquad this week for introducing me to Modern Grid, love how it came out and although this was going to be a thankyou card, I loved the final result so much I used it to create a Remembrance Day page in my 2018 Envelope junk journal.

Both my Grandfathers fought in WW1, in Belgium and France and this Sunday it is 100 years since that war ended. A day to be thankful to those who have served, many losing their lives in WW,  but all servicemen and women as well.  "Lest We Forget"

The technique is so easy, check out Judy's posting at ModSquad HERE.  I have used Acrylic Chalk paints to colours the grid and copic pens to colour the image from Fred She Said, called Cosmos.  Fine Black sharpies for the lines and doodles.

I am definitely going to be using this technique again.

Ladies first, to the front of the envelope I have also added, tags,
snowflakes, dove, flowers, wooden tree and snowflake.

CHNC Christmas #410

This week the challenge is Anything Goes or the of option of use some Glitter.

Paper and diecut from Kaisercraft, wooden star and silver ribbon from my stash.  I stamped the sentiment and added silver glitter to the star and paper.

Monochrome

Sometimes something crosses your path and a lightbulb explodes in your head and you think why didn't I ever think of that!

I was looking through a journal page on facebook the other day and a lady was showing one of her pretty Franken pages. I had no idea what Franken was, after googling, I now understand it to be like building Frankenstein from pieces, you create pages with bits and pieces of left over papers from your stash. Bit like quilting with paper.  But it wasn't the page that interested me it was the technique and being able to reduce my stash.  I wanted to see what I could do with an envelope.

There in started a new obsession, I have done a number of Christmas envelopes which will be on this blog in a couple of weeks, so so easy to do and such a great result.

Basically, I used an already premade envelope, then started layering different papers.  I used a glue stick (my go to whenever I do a collage) then a brayer to make sure all the edges are stuck down.

So my mind is wondering, singing loudly "We are the Champions"  (having just seen Bohemian Rhapsody) and I'm beginning to get an idea together.

I love doing uncluttered cards, it is where I started many moons ago and I have decided 2019 will be the year that simplicity returns, not necessarily CAS, but simple cards and adding a  matching envelope.  Also, I would be using scraps as I create my cards and that would be great leaving me in a less cluttered space.

Then today, I am looking at facebook again, (have to stop seeing things to do) and there is a DT Call for a new monthly challenge commencing in January, the  Rainbow Card Challenge, where the themes are going to be colours, how great is that, different colour or colour combo each month. I cannot wait for it to commence in January.  Click on the banner below to check out all the details

http://rainbowcardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/11/design-team-call.html
The Design Call for Rainbow Cards is asking for a monochromatic card.  Here is a chance for me to begin my simplicity card and envelope sets.  This card is made with Stampin Up papers.  The little Kewpie doll is a stamp from Creative Splendour which has been coloured with Acrylic Chalk Paint and fussy cut.  Then from the scraps a matching envelope.

I hope you like this new idea, I will certainly be using it a lot more often, and although I would love to join the Rainbow Card Challenge in January, if I don't get chosen, I will definitely be keeping the challenge in my diary, as I love the idea of just working with different colour palettes.  Fingers crossed!
