A World of Fantasy

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics, I fell in love with the texture of the paints, felt soft like a chalk finish, but did not come off on your hands.  Lots of ways you can use them, so I bought some and started experimenting.

These pages started out purely as an experiment in using the paints, then I added more and more and more elements, there is a lots of rubber stamping going on, my drawings, diecuts and an image from Di' Digis complete the pages.

Top things I love is that they do not bleed through the paper (my book is just a sketch book, so nothing special about the paper).  I love how my white pen went on white and stayed on.  The translucent paints are fabulous for colouring stamps.  And the most amazing colours, definitely adding more on my next shopping list.

Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

This is the first child's song I can remember my son interacting with, we use play it out every day when he was very young.  So, when I received "Ms. Scarecrow with Squirrels by Mary Smith and Createful Heart Digital Stamps. image for the monthly Progressive challenge at Outlawz, I immediately thought of the Dingle Dangle Scarecrow.

I printed the image with one of the pumpkins duplicated, so that it came across the bottom of the page.  Coloured with  colouring pencils.  (The crows are mine)

When all the cows were sleeping and the sun had gone to bed
Up jumped the scarecrow and this is what he said
"I'm a dingle dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat,
I can shake my hands like this and shake my feet like that.
When all the hens were rousting and the moon behind a cloud,
Up jumped the scarecrow and shouted very loud
"I'm a dingle dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat,
I can shake my hands like this and shake my feet like that.

BUGABOO STAMPS

CREATIVE BUG ON THE LOOSE
 Prize: 5 images

PAPER NEST DOLLS
Prize: 3 images

I used Bugaboo's "Owls and Flowers Colouring Page " to create an Art Journal page.  Wasn't what I had in mind originally, but I came down with a throat/chest infection and just didn't have any energy to think let alone craft.

Then I remembered when my girlfriend and I would spend hours colouring (about 50 years ago) long before it became fashionable for adults to be messing around with pencils and colouring books.

Grabbed the Derwents and the Faber Castells, got comfortable in front of the TV and started colouring.  I am definitely doing this more often, the whole page took over 2.5 hour it was both relaxing and therapeutic (I was feeling sorry for myself) and the time flew.  I finished off with a bit of journalling down the sides.

Upcycling

I had a delivery in a large box and decided I could use it for storage.  Covered with blue patterned papers from Stampinup and placed an doily that I had embroidered in a past life on top.

Inside I placed smaller boxes to store individual colours of scrap paper.

Started with empty packing box

Covered top, back and sides with patterned paper

 Doiley and lace on top

Filled with boxes (the coloured punched shapes tell me
which colour is in which box, saves a whole lot of time

I chose an image from Dr Digis House of Stamps called "Katy the Cat Lady" now this image has 3 cats.  I have used the image on an Art Journal page, using stamps, inks, drawings, pens, pencils, water etc etc.  And I have also included a 3 verse poem called "Daphne, Primrose and Sadie"

Much to my husband's surprise and delight, the poem is one of mine, yes folks, I wrote it.

There once was an elderly lady
Who kept cats numbering three
Daphne, Primrose and Sadie
Always cuddling on her knee

Together they lived in a cottage
Daphne, Primrose, Sadie and the elderly lady
They dined on delectable sausage
Under an Apple tree so shady

Upon a feather bed they all sleep
The Lady, Daphne, Primrose and Sadie
Even the elderly husband without a peep
Dreaming dreams of milk and Brandy

(now, if you like the poem you are most welcome to use it
and although not mandatory, it would be nice if you gave credit to me,
by mentioning and using this link
