The Crafters Cafe Challenge #127 - Add Some Buttons - 29th July, 2015

This week's sponsor is
Art by Miran
My card features "Flora" and can be found at Art by Miran..  I have coloured her withCopic pens, adding some liquid pearls to the flowers on her dress and the one in her hair. Fussy cut and layered onto a white card with 3d squares.

Punches were used for the leaves (2 different coloured greens, layered one on top of the other), the flowers and dandelions for the stamens (all coloured with copic pens) and buttons sewn on for the centres of the flowers.  A little silver sentiment added to the side completes the card.

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #274 - Christmas in July - 26 July, 2015

Our sponsor this week is
DRAGONSMOORE, SPYDER’S OTHER CORNER

PRIZE: the winner’s choice of 5 digital stamps from the
DRAGONSMOORE, SPYDER’S OTHER CORNER STORE.

I chose "Smiley Snowman" for my card this week, snowmen always seem to feature on Christmas cards, although where I live, he would be completed melted by Christmas.

I tried something different this week, having coloured the image with Copic and Touch Pens, I diecut circles around his head.  Not sure that it looks right in the photo, next time I might try something slightly different.  But I am happy with my Christmas in July Card, which is when we have snow in parts of Australia.

The Craft Challenge # 321 - Wish You Were Here - 23 July, 2015

As a member of the Robyn's Fetish Design Team I was asked if I would like to be a Guest Designer for the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge this week.  As this is one of my favourite weekly challenges I was very happy to contribute a project.

I chose to use Beach Kitty from Robyn's Fetish Stores and More and made a Fat Page Postcard.  Been a while since I have made one of these, always love doing them and seem to be able to put more bits anf pieces together for a Fat page than a card.

I have coloured the Kitty with copic pens and fussy cut.  I also printed sections of the image on different designer coloured paper.  The background was some paper from my stash, the beach ball and sand are from Bo Bunny, the bucket and spade paper is from Kaboom and the paper for the tag is from Close to my Heart.  I also have a little flower brad and shells from my stash.

I started by printing the design on the background paper, then layering the different elements, cutting into the sand element so that the kitty could be tucked into place.  Lots of real small shells glued to the edge.  I hand wrote the sentiment.  Hope you enjoy my Fat Page and go over to the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge  and check out all the great inspiration they have for their challenges.

Robyns Fetish Challenge # 273 - Unde the Sea - 19 July, 2015

Our Sponsor this week is
SPONSOR: KPM DOODLES
PRIZE: the winner’s choice of 2 sets from the KPM DOODLES STORE
http://kpmdoodles.com/

I have had these cute images for sometime now, great for so many projects.  Wonderfully easy to cut out.  Try printing on coloured paper, cutting out and letting the kids build a fish tank, get a shoe box, some fishing line and in no time a diorama will be created.

This time I used "Sea Creatures" to create another page of my Song Book Art Journal, the theme this week is "Under the Sea" and although never a Beatles fan I straight away thought of the old Beatles song "Yellow Submarine"

All the creatures have been coloured with Copic and Touch Pens, lots of ink for the green sea, rubber stamping for the little plants and mounds.  Some of the creatures are not all stuck down, the Octopus' tenticles move, some tadpoles have their heads turned off the page.   Lots of glossy accents used in different parts of the page.

Also some handdrawn, submarines and worm to complete the page.

Here is a couple of the verses.

In the town where I was born,
Lived a man who sailed to sea,
And he told us of his life,
In the land of submarines.

So we sailed on to the sun,
Till we found a sea of green,
And we lived beneath the waves,
In our yellow submarine.

Sadly, this is our last challenge at Open Minded Crafting, to see us off

July Monthly Digi challenge at "Imagine That"

This month the image is Treat Stand, which comes with lots of sentiments and images for both Christmas and the one below.  Also included great digi papers.

I really like the treat stand with the opaque top, didn't think I could manage the same effect with my colouring skills, so used the coloured version of the image.

I placed the treat stand onto the digital paper and printed, I then printed the digital stand and sentiment separately as I wanted some layering.

From the image on the paper I fussy cut the bow (nobody was going to notice as it was being layered onto red cardstock and then a card blank. Instead of layering the complete image, I fussy cut everything but the dome on the second image.  Layered this onto the original, to get some depth  for the treats (optical illusion - the lid looks like it is also raised.)  Then I glued the bow on top.

At Imagine That you will also find Chef Freddie in the store.  How cute is this fellow, heck out the Baking Set

I chose the Christmas Pudding image, as I make a few each year for family members and thought it would make a great card.  Came with great papers and sentiments as well.

As in the previous card, I created the card top digitally, layering the 2 patterned papers, with Freddie on top.  Then I layered the sentiment onto some more of the red check patterned paper.  Printed and cut out, layering onto yellow and red cardstock.

I printed Freddie a second time and fussy cut him, layering him with 3d squares.  Punched some holly and added red liquid pearls for the berries.

Tick Tock

The card features The Cuckoo Clock by Ikes World, it was an image I chose recently after winning some of Ikes images.

I have a very soft spot for Cuckoo Clocks, grew up in a house that had one, and my husband bought me one years and years ago.

Coloured with Copic pens, fussy cut, layered onto black cardstock and re fussy cut leaving a border, helps the clock pop.  Some Olive Gold ink has been swiped across the leaves to give them a sheen. The sentiment is one of mine.  The papers are from Close to my Heart.

Robyns Fetish Challenge # 272 - Birds - 12 July, 2015

Our Sponsor for this week is
THE CUTTING CAFE
PRIZE: 3 sets of the winner’s choice from THE CUTTING CAFÉ STORE

I chose the "Owl Shaped Card" and used my Ecraft to cut out the shapes.

Using 6 different coloured cardstock sheets I have created the following Cards and Tags.   On the cards I added googley eyes and glitter to their feather stripes.  Flowers and vine are from Flourish with a Bling to complete the cards.
This card has been made using the card shape.

Shaped card standing
For this card I used the different shapes to create the owl and then glued to a square card.
For this tag I used the eys from the pattern not only for the owl's eyes but also as spots on the owl, as I had some left over after using the googley eyes on the cards..

This tag is fairly plain, I have placed the eyes on an angle, and used a white pen to highlight the eyes.

The image on my card is from Lacy Sunshine, called : Patch Penny's Snowflakes.

I started by printing Penny onto white cardstock that would be the card base.  I then printed her again to colour and layer, but not with 3d, just stuck one image over the other to lift her off the page a bit.

I have coloured Penny with copic pens, E000; E00; R000; G000 and G000, that's all and I did the colouring very very lightly.  I also used green and red on the leaves and flowers.

You can get a great colouring effect by "thinking less is more" delicate colouring suits a lot of images and this was one of them.

I then went mad with die cuts, flowers, leaves, dandelions for the snowflakes, a little border at the bottom..  Adding white liquid pearls for snow, and white pearls on the flowers.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #124 More than 3 Folds - 8 July, 2015

Two great sponsors again this week
Poppyseed Graphics

AND

Stitchybear

I received "Summer Wishes" from Poppyseed Graphics for my card this week.  Yes, it is bright, but as I am in the midst of winter, my hardest season, I love to go bright, bright and brighter at this time of the year.  I have used papers from Close to My Heart, their "Taste of Summer" Collections  and Washi Tape.  The Summer Wishes image has been coloured with copic pens.

And from Stitch Bears " Roses Frame"

A bit more subdued this time.  I printed the pattern in the negative/inverted.  Printed and mounted onto black and white cardstock.  The card design is a gate card, with the gates folded back.
