Brown Sugar #283 Autumn

Our sponsor this month is

Our theme is Autumn and where I live is 5 days into Spring.   What to do?

Over the past few years my youngest grandson always made a diary at school, which he would given me for Christmas each year. Last year the children didn't make them (shame on the school).  So, instead of going out and buying one I struggled on through 2018 with notes on paper in notebooks etc. thinking that it would work.

Hell no! I have been chasing my tail all year, so decided to go and get a planner ready for 2019.  You will probably see it show up on this blog every now and then.

Here is a divider, for when I enter Autumn on the 1st March next year.

I have used an image from Time for Tea called, Fall Leaves.  Coloured with Little Tipsy, cut and diecut edging of cross stitch (Stampin Up) added.

Brown Sugar #281 Fairies or Fantasies

This months sponsor at Brown Sugar is

I used "Sakura" from the sponsor, which I had in my stash.  Pretty image I have used on several occasions.

I'm trying a new alcoholic pen today, brand name is "Little Tipsy", they were on sale and I decided to buy some.  This is my 4th brand of alcohol markers.  I was very happy with the results.

My other brands:
Touch by ShinHanart, Favourite, but not readily available for me.

New Touch (chinese brand), were very cheap, great for big spaces, go on smoothly and save on using the expensive brands.

Copic, I use them most often, only because they are readily available, but are expensive, I have a lot of the refills, but some of my nibs are now in need of replacing.  Which is annoying, because I do not use the broad end, so nibs are expensive when you only use one end.

Back to this image "Sakura" she has been coloured with A Little Tipsy and die cut.  The papers are from Stampin Up, adding flowers, leaves and candy together with a sentiment to complete the card.

Brown Sugar #280 - 6th July, 2018

This month's challenge is to use 2 or more patterned papers and our sponsor is
A Day for Daisies.

Love working with A Day for Daisies images and this time I paper pieced "Acorn Cutie" turning her into a Gumnut Baby.  The verse is from The Stringy Bark Tree by Henry Lawson.

I managed to get 7 different papers into my little framed picture. 5 from Stampin Up, one from Kaisercraft and I hand cut the gum leaves from an old book.  The gumnuts are real, our lawns are covered in them and I quilled the little gum flowers.

There’s the whitebox and pine on the ridges afar,
where the iron-bark, blue gum,and peppermint are;
There is many another, but dearest to me,
And the king of them all was the stringy-bark tree

This month we are looking at Easter and/or Spring projects.  I've chosen to make a Spring card using - Ching Chou's "Swing in Spring"

Brown Sugar #272 - Breast Cancer Awareness

Hi, I am very happy to announce I have returned to the Brown Sugar Challenge Design Team, after being away for 18 month.

I've created a page in my Breast Cancer Journey Junk Journal. I started the Journal when some family and friends started sending me cards specifically designed for the Breast Cancer Charities and I didn't want to throw them out.

For a number of years now, I make an entry and post it on my blog as a reminder for people to have a mammogram, as a reminder to me, of how far I have come and a time to reflect on the amazing medical staff that looked after me.  And hopefully to help anyone going through the treatment, that there are lots of us who are surviving, who wish you all the very best with your treament.

Using Di's Digis image called "Kitty in a Teacup, I added extra cups so I had enough for each year.  Very happy I just got the all clear for 8 years.

Kitty has been coloured with copic pens  and fussy cut.  The words have been typed using "JLR Awareness Ribbons" font.  A little bit of writing and a little bit of doodling completes the page for this year.

Brown Sugar #196 - For the Boys - 29/04/2016

Our sponsor t\at Brown Sugar this week is

IMAGINE THAT
 Prize - $10 gift certificate
Sadly, this is my last project for the Brown Sugar Challenges, I have been on the Design Team for a number of years, but lately life has become a bit complicated with an elderly relative and I have had to step down.

For my last project I chose "Icecream Boy", love doing digital layouts and this precoloured image and a poem I found on line matched wonderfully.   I'm thinking of having it printed and framed for a little boy I know.

The dog kennel, paw prints and leash come from a kit "Doggy Treats" by Retro Designs.
