Cass Creating Now Tutorial - Paper Dolls - 6 May 2016

Today's tutorial is
PAPER DOLLS

Supplies

Scissors

Circle Punch 1 1/4 inch

Glue

 Images (2 of each image)

I have used "Bernice Red Hat,"  "Lucky Leprechaun,"  "Lucy Valentine Girl,"  "School Boy,"  "School Girl 2,"  "Red Hat Mama,"  "The Scarecrow and his Friend," "Pilgrim Man," and "School Bear."  These can all can be found at Robyn's Digital Stamps and More Shop

Supplies

The first thing to do is to print your images twice, approximately 4 inches in height, in mirror versions.  Check out the pencils on  "School Bear" and the faces on "Ernie the Hedgehog."

Colour each of the images in different colours and fussy cut.
Glue back to back and trim any pieces that may not meet.

Punch out one circle for each doll and glue one side.

 Fold each circle in half.

Cut through halfway on the curved side

Cut the image the same depth as the cut on the half circle.   Insert the two pieces together.

If you are making them for smaller children, you can make a more 

permanent base by inserting a flat strip into the cut of the half circle

Only glue the top half of the doll, leaving the bottom half open

Align bottom of dolls and cut to match the circle cut.

Open the bottom half of doll and glue strip in circle to the inside, ensuring cuts are aligned.

Glue bottom of doll and press together.  Trim excess of strip away.  

Although this step can be a bit tricky, it does make for a very strong 

base that will not come out, which is great for the smaller ones.

I hope you have fun creating some of these little paper dolls.  They make great table decorations for parties and celebrations and are great for children to not only play with, but also to colour and make themselves, with some help with the cutting step.

Cass Creating Now Tutorial - ATC Book - 1 April, 2016

ATC Mini Book

 This little book is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the same size as an ATC)

Supplies
Scoreboard
Glue
Card stock for each Cover - 5.5 x 3.5 inches
Card stock (neutral colour) for Pages 10 x 3.5 inches (up to 3 strips)
Trims
Images: I have used Happy Harry; Jeanette Red Hat Gal;  Franny da Kitty; Easter Girl. All of these can be found at Robyn's Digital Stamps and More Shop.

 

For the cover, score at the 2.5 and 3 inch mark.

Fold and crease along the score lines.

For the pages, score at 2.5; 5 and 7.5 inches, and then fold.

Depending on how many pages you wish to have in your little books,
you will need to join the pieces together.  Place glue on one edge.

Join to another edge.
(Tip: instead of glue, you could place tape down the two sides and bottom, join them and you will have a little pocket)

Starting from the front, 1 strip, middle is 2 strips and back is 3 strips.

Attach pages to cover by placing some glue around the edges of the inside of the cover.

Place end of strip on glue.

Fold up pages and turn book around.  Repeat process by placing glue on the other inside of cover and glue down the other end of the pages.

I usually find 3 strips give a good deal of pages.
In the photo, the white pages are 3 strips, the cream 2 strips.
This is purely a personal thing, even 1 strip works.

Time to decorate.
When decorating with trims, do not forget the back of the cover.

Images and Trim make great covers.  I do not use 3d squares on these books, but glue the images to the cover, to ensure they stay in place.

These little books are great for sticking in small bags, where you can't fit your diary.  This means you still have something to jot down those phone numbers, names etc. when you are out and about.

Children love them for their size.

You could attach photos of grandchildren to the pages and give as a gift to a grandparent.

Gift Bags 

The quickest and simplest Gift Bags

Supplies

Scoreboard

Edge Punch

Small Hole Punch

Tape

I have used Envelope Paper  but you can use card stock.  Your bags will just be stiffer.

Each bag requires 1 piece of paper/card stock 8 x 11.5 inches

Embellishments - Doily; Ribbon

Images I have used "New Bunny Dress," " Priscilla's Thanksgiving" and "Randy Valentines Boy." All of these can be found at Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More Shop.

You need to score the long side at 1/2;  2; 6 and 7.5 inch marks

 Turn to short side and score at 1.5 inch mark

(Tip: if you want to change the size of this bag, just remember that your short side score mark is the same measurement as the narrowest side of the bag - in this case 1.5 inches)

Once scored, crease all folds.

The 1/2 inch fold is the tab.  Cut off below the bottom scoreline

and cut an angled piece from the bottom of the tab.

Cut along the score lines from the bottom to the 1.5 score line on all folds.

Place tape on two short bottoms and one long bottom, also along the tab.  See photo.

Attach the tab to the other end. The bottom pieces will start to fold themselves at this stage.  The order is the larger end that has no tape, then the two short ends. In the picture below you can see the last long end with the tape is ready to fold down.

There are many ways to complete the bags. You can also pinch the sides to give the bag a different shape.

For this bag, I scallop punched the top and folded it over before I stuck down the sides. It has been left open with a bow and image attached.  Chocolates for my Love in this bag.

This bag has pinched sides, 2 small holes punched, ribbon threaded 

through bag and tag and tied off in a bow to close the top and an image added. It might be nice to have some cookies in here.

This bag also has pinched sides and has been closed with tape on a doily.  I printed the image twice in mirror and placed both on the bag.  I'm thinking Easter Eggs.

Square Card with a Twist

Supplies

If using plain coloured card stock you will need the following:

2 pieces of Card stock in colour A (1 at 5 x 10 inches  and the other at 3.75 x 3.75 inches for each card.)

2 pieces of Card stock  in Colour B (1 at  4.5 x 4.5 inches and the other at 3.5 x 3.5 inches)

If you use double sided patterned card stock you will need the following:

2 pieces of Patterned Card stock (1 at 5 x 10 inches and 1 at 3.5 x 3.5 inches

I have used "Cupcake with Stars" and "Bathtime", both available at Robyn's Digis Stamps and More Shop

Score the 10 x 5 inch piece in half to get a 5x5 square card base.

 Crease the fold.

 You will now need to fold the top right hand corner on the front of the card and fold down towards the lower left hand corner, leaving approximately 1/2 inch at the top left and bottom right corners.

This is a view of the cards folded and open.  

With the plain coloured card, attach the colour B 4.5 x 4.5inch piece to the inside of card.  

The patterned card stock does not need any additional inside piece.

 Mount your images onto the smaller pieces of cardstock as shown in the photo.  

Using tape, 3d squares etc.  See photo for placements. The plain coloured card has both the colour B 3.5x3.5 and colour A 3.75 x 3.75 inch pieces.

The patterned cardstock 3.5 x 3.5 is used with the same side showing as the front of the card.

We are looking to create contrasts.

 Turn images over and place tape down the right hand side and bottom of the mounted image.  If you have placed the tape correctly, the backs of the images will look the same as in the photo.

One image per card

 Place the mounted image onto the folded down piece on the front of the card, half on and half off.
