Happy Birthday to me

Where I live has been quite hot, meaning, glues run, paints dry quickly etc.  So quietly watching TV last night, I pulled out my bullet diary and started drawing and doodling.  The monster image is from Twistoon.  Check out her FB page as she is now running a monthly progressive challenge, this was the image I received for January "Monster"

I only used pencils and coloured permanent markers.  Although the monster was coloured with
copic pens and has been mounted with a wobble spring.

Entered into:

Fuchsia

One of the plants that are in my top 10 is Fuchsia.  Love them and do have them in my garden. Sadly, nowhere as many as I did have, we had a new fence put in several years ago, and apparently they don't like being disturbed, now I keep them in hanging baskets or pots.

This image is from Beccy's Place, if you check out her site, this month you will be able to get both a coloured and black and white image of her Fuchsia.

Coloured with copic pens and die cut, stamped sentiment completes the card.

Here is "Chibi Flowerpot Peeker" from Bugaboo ans it is this months freebie at The Outlawz Monthly freebie progressive challenge.

As always a cute image from Bugaboo.  I have printed her with the rectangle, circle and banner outlines from a sketch that can be found at Crafting with Vicky.  Turned and flipped.

The image has been coloured with copic pens, the circle has been printed a second time, punched and added with a 3d dimension.  (My weird mind sees her sitting on a shelf in front of a window)

CHNC Christmas #471

This week the challenge is Anything Goes, Optional "Upcycle or use something old."

I've recycled a paper napkin, which showed me a great way to use some card bases I bought the other day.  I never took notice of the brand, I went into Kmart and picked up a couple of packets or white card and envelopes. Not realising they were a different brand to what I normally buy and they are very thin and flimsy.

The napkins are 3 ply, so I carefully peeled them apart and then using a glue stick, stuck one of the napkins to the front and back of the card.   My idea was to tear around the edges, but the napkins were quite strong, so I tried using the guillotine and that didn't work, too flimsy, then when I move the guillotine to try again, I move it too much and ended up with a straight cut but had lost width to the card.  Top and bottom edges were trimmed with scissors.

To make the card, I got a second blank card, and because they are thin, they fitted inside with a border perfectly.  So, some washi tape on the edge of the inside card, glued the two cards together and the result was better than I had anticipated.

Firm card with a linen like finish.  Definitely hunting for some more napkins to upcycle.  Old sentiment sticker I have had for ages and some red liquid pearls ont he berries completes the card.

Getting Creative in 2020

I found last year's bullet diary, totally useless, it only had days and no dates.  Big lesson learnt in 2019 I need dates, anyway the good thing that came out of it was that over the twelve months I added lots of mixed media quote pages.  Tore out the days as the months went by and now have a cute slim line art journal.

This year I have gone back to an A5 size bullet diary, which I purchased online from Bullet Planner, an Australian company.

I have dates and loads more, I will definitely be continuing my quote pages, only bigger this year.

And one of the first pages I have completed features another image from Twistoon, called "Love my Markers"  Love these quirky images.  The poem is one that I wrote.

A New Year has begun
A Blank Page waiting to be done
A new decade has started
The year ahead uncharted
Out with the brushes and paints
There can be no restraints
Daytime, night time any time
Art and crafting will be my pastime
So 2020 as bright as a new penny
Make way for mess a plenty
written by Cass

You are welcome to use the poem if you wish, I only ask that you acknowledge me as the author. Who knows, this could be the year I write more poetry

The image has been coloured with Copic pens and fussy cut , I have used paint, inks, pencils, stencils, embossing paste, stamps, netting and webbing.  My poem and some journalling words complete the page.
