ALTERED PEG MAGNETS
Great for putting on your fridge to hold the children's paintings. notes etc.
Supplies Required:
Wooden Clothes Pegs
Magnets
Mod Podge (or
something similar)
Brush
Plastic Wrap for the brush
Non Stick sheet (can get messy with the glue)
Coloured Images
I have used "Franny da
kitty," "Marky Mummy,"
"Paul Penguin in the
Mitten" and "Carl the Snowman"
from the Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More Store
(all images have been
coloured with copic markers)
Plus any
embellishments you wish to use. Check out your stash for left over ribbons, lace, glitter etc..
The pegs I have used
are 3 inches long, the magnets are 2 inches
long
and I have printed the images at 4 inches long.
Place some Mod Podge
down one side of the peg and onto
one side of the
magnet, making sure you are using
the non magnetised side of the magnet for the
glue.
A TIP: Put your magnet on the fridge, if it sticks,
then put the glue on the side facing you.
Place the magnet in
the centre of the peg and then set aside to dry.
Drying
Coat the front of the
image with Mod Podge. You need to make sure you
have coated the whole image, right to edge.
If your image is not solid, like Marky Mummy, now is the time to adjust the image.
I have moved his bandages and placed them across his tummy.
Leave images to dry.
A TIP: Mod Podge does
not take long to dry, so wrap your brush in
plastic wrap while you wait.
The plastic wrap will stop the brush from
drying out. This also works with paints and inks.
When
the fronts are
dry, turn images over and coat the backs with Mod Podge. Again, you need
to set them aside to dry. Don't forget to wrap your brush in plastic
wrap.
Drying
Once the backs have
dried, turn the images over,and recoat the fronts and allow to dry. You will still need to use your brush, so wrap it up again.
Once
dry, we can start to assemble the pegs. If you have ribbon/lace etc.
that you wish to add, it is a good idea to add it now so that it will
also be glued down securely. I have tied some ribbon around the cat's
neck, then placed Mod Podge on the ribbon. That way it is also secured
onto the peg.
Recoat the backs of the images and the opposite side of the peg from where the
magnet is adhered.
Attach image so
that the peg is in the centre of the image.
Leave to dry.
Once they have dried, you can add embellishments.
I've used some glitter and liquid pearls on the two winter images.
